Building Grieving Committees
AFCHE’s philosophy is rooted in locally-led, sustainable development practices that uplift communities and make comprehensive, lasting change. We work with communities tackling the root causes of poverty and injustice in rural communities. Learn more about our beneficiaries and our shared impact.
Every human being has the right to education and a right to a future where they can live a dignified life and enjoy the freedom to achieve their full potential. In support of these principles, SES awarded a grant to Alliance for Community Health Education (AFCHE) to create a more inclusive and enabling school learning environment for the girl child. With SES funding, AFCHE trained 400 adolescent girls on how to make reusable sanitary pads for girls to access classes.

For three years, AFCHE’s gave out 7000 Euros in supporting 40 Girls from different schools both primary and secondary in Kasese by paying school fees for them, empowering 200, we took the vision of our founders a step further, and elevated our grant making program into a unique and tightly focused model that reaches the most disadvantaged groups and maximizes the impact every dollar makes on the lives of women, girls.
Livelihoods for Women and Girls
Alliance for community Health Education AFCHE is working alongside its grantee partners toward this common goal. We recognize the important work being done across other priority areas, like sexual and reproductive health and rights, gender-based violence, and climate justice. However, economic empowerment was the number one priority among grantee partners we consulted in the development of our grant making model. AFCHE also has several three years of experience working with partners in this field.
Since I joined school, accessing classes has been a great challenge. But today I thank Alliance for Community Health Education for having reached a decision of training girls on reusable sanitary pads. Community development is most effective and sustainable when it is locally driven and locally supported. Over the last two years, AFCHE has supported 40 girls in both primary level, high school and vocational skills to strengthen performance and deepen impact that shape girls and change lives….Biira Janet
